A Tail of a Whale

We came to South Beach State Park in Newport, Oregon on Wednesday. There were no vacancies for the weekend, so we saw everything we could while we were here.

Thursday, we went north on 101 to Depoe Bay, known for it's whale watching observation center. The whales come there a lot because it's somewhat sheltered and there's lots of food.
I saw several blows and got to see one's tail just as it was going back into the water. The sun was hitting it and it looked shiny and white. I saw the tail of a whale!!!
We ate at a little local fish place last evening and as we were leaving, Ed said he wanted to go back and get the same thing. He had salmon and chips. The French fries were delish and the batter on the salmon -- a new experience -- was light and tasty. This evening we had clam chowder at the famous MO's restaurant down on the pier.

Ed considered having RIBS for lunch!

What type of clam chowder did you eat--Manhattan (red) or New England (white)? Did you actually eat the battered salmon, or was that Ed's?

The chowder was the New England style. Me, eat salmon? I've tried so hard to like it but it has a bad taste to my taste buds.
