Not everyone realized how funny our mother was.
I have a feeling Mother might have been the life of the party - although never in a loud manner. Here's she's "partying" with Thelma and Leonard Hollar, our cousins.
Aunt Mary, Mother, and Daddy had some good laughs together. Can’t you just hear them giggling?
She kept her sisters laughing, too!
This mu-mu must have been a Happy Dress.
She always loved babies…
and laughing with her grandchildren.
One of my favorite memories was when she was to give a talk at church to tell about Red Bird Mission, a Methodist mission in the hills of Kentucky. Instead of just standing and talking, she came in from the back of the church in a hillybilly outfit, complete with a corncob pipe and blacked out teeth. Her country accent had everyone listening to every word about the mission. I wish we had pictures of that creative report.
She loved giving kisses...
and getting kisses…
....and “flirting” with old sailors!
Mother loved holidays.
She was a good sport and went with the flow! The other “bunny” is Shelley, a sitter who spent time with Mother in the nursing home those last 2 years. She’s also Mom’s “adopted” daughter and our adopted sister.
She was an enthusiastic listener.....
.....and a “poser” sometimes.
She loved entertaining people...(She couldn’t play that violin!)
.....and entertaining pets (She couldn't play that bass, either!)
Fran just “being Fran!”
Many visitors arriving at Fran's home were greeted with her country version of, "Welcome, welcome, welcome!!" And she meant that!
A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.
Fran May had "springs on her wagon!"
Post 6 of several more...
Amen to that last sentiment!
