Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

I pray for comfort and pease of mind for all of you.
Love,
Lisa Jo

My sister and brother-in-law have done well in interacting as a medium with mom's situation and her community of relatives and friends. Thank you, Mary & Ed for your presence and action.

As an anesthetist, I have anesthetized more than a few patients for this type of surgery. I agree that it is no small thing. I know the anesthesia will be a challenge, probably requiring more than one anesthetist at various times during the procedure. Mom will be "lined up" with an arterial line for beat-to-beat monitoring of her blood pressure, a central line which will monitor the pressures around the heart and several IV's. There will be other monitors as well, all giving the anesthesia team critical information to enable them to give mom what she needs before, during and after the procedure. She will probably require blood products during the operation and vasopressive agents to help adjust her blood pressure and heart rate. It is a challenge to take care of maintaining a normal physiological state during surgery, but it is do-able. Maribeth and I pray for her surgeons and anesthesia team. The challenge is great. The risks are real but the desired outcome is worth the risk. To relieve pain and get Mom back to a state where she can rehabilitate to a better quality of life are the goals that are worthy of pursuing.
